Restoring America’s Credibility

—At Home. Abroad.—

We're building a Credibility Agenda, a practical roadmap for what comes next, and we're starting by asking people what they think should happen.

The Challenge

America’s credibility is at a crossroads.

America’s credibility has been challenged for decades. But we are at an inflection point. Donald Trump and his enablers have taken that erosion to a new level, undermining democratic institutions, testing the rule of law, and raising fundamental questions among even our closest allies about whether the United States can still be counted on.

This crisis has exposed vulnerabilities in our institutions and raised a fundamental question: Do our political system and its checks and balances give those who oppose abuses of power the tools to stop them?

Restoring America’s credibility will require bold ideas, pragmatic solutions, and a renewed commitment to the principles and institutions that make democracy work.

Credibility is trust that the rules hold. ‍ ___

When our word is reliable, our democracy is stronger at home and our leadership is more effective abroad.
